Ulcerative Colitis

I had never heard of Ulcerative colitis before I was sick. I had been ill for quite some time before being diagnosed and then I went onto the internet to find out all I could about this disease. That was a few years ago - and I did not find a great deal of helpful information in the one place. That has been my inspiration for writing on Ulcerative Colitis here.

My intension is for anyone that has any information from a user perspective on ulcerative colitis or proctitis. So if you have information that you think should be here please email me - whether that is a help link or some new information, and I will then add it too this site.

I suffered for a year before I found out I had ulcerative colitis. I changed my diet, thinking that I was eating something that did not agree with me. I went on all sorts of exclusion diets - nothing helped, I did not want to go to the doctor - very crazy thinking. Then I gave in, I was passing this with stuff - mucus I later found out - and blood - all of this several times per day, sometimes with very little warning.

How on earth does one start to talk about this with their partner, husband, wife, or friends. However over the last few years bowel movements have become part of my conversations - it has just had to be that way for me to deal with it - especially in the beginning.

So I will cover my crazy ulcerative colitis diets, the fads the companies want you to spend your money on - and what help is really available from our doctors.

I hope some of this help, please remember though - you are not alone, there are many out there with the same problem as you.
